A Letter to Mom! Why I am so Lucky!

                                  Dear mom,

My mom has been asking me Why am I so lucky? ever since I was little. The truth is, I am the one who is lucky because I am blessed to have you as a mom.  You have been my biggest fan and supporter from the day I was born.  You never left my side and you always let me know how special I was to you.  Even though I would face many challenges and would fall.  You always believed in me and gave me the courage to get back up and keep going. Whether it was from school, Which I have to say you were my best teacher.  From working on my balance and doing physical and occupational therapy with me. You always found a new approach when you were working with me!  You made me see things in a new light!

This is why I would go on to take my first steps on my own.  Even though I would fall many times during this process I was determined to walk without the help of my walker or crutches! Eventually, I  would take those steps and once again you were by my side through it all.  You always said I would do it and its because of your faith, love and guidance that I made the progress that I've made! Thank you mom for staying with me through the endless surgeries even when I would cry out in pain from being tight. You always made me smile and laugh. Even when I was in so much pain I didn't want to.  You helped me fight through the pain!

When I went through bullying in school and would call you up crying!  You always found a way to brighten my day no matter what. You always told me I had a special purpose in life.  Mom its because of you that I got through my darkest days and was able to see the sunshine in life again.    You never gave up on me!  Even when I went through my darkest hours and was battling with the severe depression I was in.  You made sure I stayed healthy and never left my side.  I'ts because of you mom that I am still here today!  I love you mommy!  Thank you for always loving me and supporting me.  You saved my life and I am so lucky to have you as my mom.  You brought sunshine back into my life again.

You called me out and taught me tough
With love, with love.
You fought my flaws, my teeth, my claws
With love, with love.
Cause every time I'm slipping away from myself,
You're the one that moves me like nobody else.

Cause when I'm down and I'm done,
And I'm coming unplugged
When I'm ready to fall
You're the one always holding me up
With love

Oh no no

Your tongue won't tie, you'll always find
The truth yeah you do
But still you smile despite the lines
I drew for you

Cause every time I'm slipping away from myself,
You're the one that moves me like nobody else. Oh no.

Cause when I'm down and I'm done,
And I'm coming unplugged
When I'm ready to fall
You're the one always holding me up
With love

Love, Love, Love, Love

When I'm down, when I'm coming unplugged. no. (Ohh)
You're always there with love (Love)
When I'm done, love
When I'm out, when I fall
You're always always always always there

When I'm down and I'm done,
And I'm coming unplugged
When I'm ready to fall
You're the one always holding me up

When I'm down and I'm done,
And I'm coming unplugged
When I'm ready to fall
You're the one always holding me up
With love

A call for Action: Time to change your Perception!

I still miss you everyday.
I still still remember the incredible man you were.
I still remember you fighting so strong and brave!
Even on your worst days you never showed you were in pain.
You showed us all what it means to fight for it all!
You never gave up the fight!
Even when the odds were stacked against you.
You always saw a way to bring joy, love and light.
to eveyone and eveything in your life.

Even on your Last Days you managed to have a smile on your face.
You handled the circumstances you faced each day with grace!
Everytime I saw you put a smile on my face!
I want you to know that I think about you all the time Uncle Ronnie. Thank you for always believing in me. You really inspired me to follow my dreams and you are one of the reasons why I strongly advocate for the things and the people I believe in today.

I always like to look on the optimistic side of life, but I am realistic enough to know that life is a complex matter. - Walt Disney

I'm so sad over the passing of Christina Grimmie I don't understand how someone can be that evil to just hurt such a creative beautiful soul who just wanted to keep inspiring people with her music and who loved her fans so much!

Rest in Peace I know your in heaven now singing for the angels!

You know what I don't get?  How someone could take the life of a beautiful talented girl like Christina Grimmie who had everything going for her and was so talented.  I don't get how someone can do this to such a bright young girl.  I don't get that there is still bullying in schools and the school does nothing about it until something bad happens and it ends up in the media.  I don't understand how some schools are so quick to sweep this under the rug like it never happened or they say they didn't realize what was going on!

I can't comprehend how there is still a perception on people with disabilities on how we are to look and feel. Guess What? We can dress up and rock the world just like everybody else we are allowed to express are opinion whether its from your fashion and what you like to wear to casting that vote for the next president. We have a voice and I will never allow someone to silence mine!

We are the true leaders and we are the ones that are going to change that crazy perception. I think everyone has a special purpose in this world whether you know or not god always does!

Anyway, My point is that everyone has something that makes them unique and when you find out what that is don't let anybody stop you or hold you back. If you have a dream go out and do it. Anything is possible if you believe in yourself!

Also, If you see someone who needs help please help them out. You never know how much that means to them just by talking to them you can change their outlook of the day and make them smile!!

Never bend your head. Always hold it high. Look the world straight in the eye. - Helen Keller

Some Cool things I am really into!

I really love music!  It has been a really helped me in so many ways.  When I was in 3rd grade I was approached by the band teacher at Wyalusing Elementary school.  She thought that it would be good therapy for me and help my cordination.  Mrs Renoll really was the most amazing music teacher!  I really enjoyed the time I had with her.  She really instilled a love of music in me and a passion for playing the drums.  I loved reading music and just getting to learn something new everyday.   I loved performing in the band and there was nothing better then doing a live show.  The energy on stage and in the audience was always incredible to see and hear.  I always loved getting ready for a show.  I knew I was about to do something really special each time I hit the stage with my friends.

I even had the opportunity to go to a couple competitions with the band and chorus.  I believe we took 4th place one time and 1st place the next time.   We even got to go to Dorney Park which was really fun for me and my brother Glenn who went with me at the time.  It was a really great learning experience that I will never forget.  It really helped me become a better artist as well.  My time in Wyalusing is something I will never forget and always be Proud of.  I learned alot and accomplished so many great things.

My first concert ever was The Backstreet Boys and Shaggy.  I went with my brothers Joe and Nick.  I had  a blast with them and I had no idea I was going.  I was Shocked!!   My mom and my brothers really surprised me with this show.  The Concert was at Hershey Park and it was a great night.  I made some new memories with my brothers which is always awesome!!

The next concert I went to was Evanescence.  My brother Glenn got the tickets and surprised me.  It was truly one of the most amazing shows!!  Fallen and The Open Door are my favorite albums from Evanescence.  Amy lee is so talented and has such a beautiful voice!!   My favorite song they did live was My Immortal!!

Also, I went to see Ariana Grande!!  She was at The Wells Fargo Center in Philly.  This concert was really special to me because I went with my mom.  We had a Ball!!  She had us dancing the entire night!!  It was such a blast!!

This is for my mom!! I love you mom

My mother has been by my side through good times and bad.  She made sure I always had everything I needed in my life, whether it was from the best doctors to the best physical therapist.   She always made sure I had the best people around me: a team of people who became very special in my life.  They worked with me and encouraged me to pursue my dreams, and that really means alot to me.  My mom always made sure I knew that no matter what I could do anything I set my mind too.  She has been working with me whether it was from homeschooling me and being my greatest teacher of all.   Which led to me graduating high school in 2008 through The Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School.  She made sure I had the best opportunities for my education.

After that, I went to Johnstown PA to start college @ Hiram G. Andrews (Commonwealth Technical Institute) where I went into CSEP Program where I did a mentorship with the Veterans Leadership Program. From doing this I gained some great work experience and made some amazing friends which became like family!!  I really enjoyed the CSEP Program and the mentorship was so amazing.  After I did CSEP I went into the COR Program which gave me the opportunity to prepare for what would eventually become my major!!

During this time, I tried out for 2 programs Medical Office Assistant and Office Technology.  I would eventually enter the Office Technology Program was was 3 terms which I really enjoyed and learned so much from my teachers and I also made some awesome friends who I love so much!!

I could call my mom up at any time. If I had a question, or needed help with an assignment mom was always there for me.  Even when I faced bullying in school she always would talk to me and make me feel better about the situation I was in.  My mom always made me feel special and always made sure that I knew that even though I may have faced many challenges god had a very special purpose for me.  That purpose was to help other kids and young adults with Cerebral Palsy and other disabilities realize that they can be leaders and can do anything they set their minds too.  My mom has always been my biggest supporter and is one of the main reasons and people who inspired me to create https://www.facebook.com/FredsLifewithCP/.,
I wanted to create this page and blog to share my story, and if it helps or inspires anybody going through similar situations as me then that really means alot to me.

I wrote this for my mom:
She is my world.
She is my light.
no matter the weather
rain or shine
she is by my side day and night.
she works so hard everyday of her life.
She showed me the light when I was in the dark
She showed me another side of life.
She showed me what it means to have a bright heart.
Like no other mother could ever do!
She made sure I knew what was right from the start.
She made sure I never felt alone.
Mom with you I know. I always have a home!
